How To Cure Panic Attacks

I had panic attacks on a regular basis for six years! I wish I had known then how easy it is to cure panic attacks once you know how.

A little background is needed here.

Panic and anxiety are very much the same. Not exactly, however, and they definitely vary in intensity.

Anxiety is a condition of apprehension caused by being afraid of a threat, imagined or real.

It is one of our most common emotions. It seems that everybody goes through it at different levels, over different things, and at different times in their life.

That’s anxiety. It’s fear. That’s pretty straightforward.

This whole thing is wrapped up in fear. It’s about fear and it’s caused by fear.

And fear is the “key” to this problem. To cure panic attacks it is necessary to get rid of the fear of the attacks returning.

It’s easy to learn not to fear panic attacks. I’ll bet you are glad to hear that.

Toward the end of my six year sojourn through the dark valley of anxiety and panic attacks I came up with a method that enabled me to shed my fear of the attacks.

I’ll never forget that day. What I did amounted to a subtle “shift” in my thinking in regards to panic attacks.

It kind of went this way (it’s been 30 years). I realized that I had been suffering through these attacks now for six years! Six long years.

I also recognized the fact that, although I had gone through hundreds of these attacks, I hadn’t been harmed, at least not physically, that I could see.

When I combined that fact with the regret that so much time and energy had been wasted, the net result, for me, intellectually, and in my gut, was that my fear of the attacks was replaced with anger.

Right then and there, in the absence of fear of these attacks I could feel their pull on me release and I knew they would never be back. That was thirty years ago and they have not returned.

I’m NOT recommending that you have to do it this way. The way I did it was created for me, by myself, through my experiences, over a six year period, and, I feel like I got lucky.

Still, I learned one thing I will never forget, and that one thing is the solution.

Once again, if you want to know how to cure panic attacks, the solution is to get rid of the fear of those attacks.

All you have to do is know how to do and then just do it.

Fortunately there are programs available that will show you exactly how to do it for yourself.

You can have your life back.

Get Real About Your Business

1150176_melaHow would you like to have a Truly Profitable business and life?

Here’s how:

I heartily recommend a process that’s easy and most importantly, effective to do. It’s called a Time Audit. This simple, yet powerful process will help you to clear away the “fluff” from your weekly schedule so that you spend your time and energy on what really matters most.

Here’s what happened for my client…

I recently coached one of my clients, Jim, on how to do this process. This 30 minute exercise instantly showed him where the “time leaks” were in his business. He carefully evaluated all of his memberships and committee committments and then streamlined his schedule by letting go of the groups and organizations that were no longer in perfect alignment with his goals. (Sometimes we get comfortable in our routines and stay on in roles and programs that are no longer a good fit.)

Jim’s results?

His activities are now “high-return” and making these shifts immediately brought him closer to his professional and personal goals, which meant higher-end clients and more “flex” time in his schedule to create and implement new profitable projects.

Time is your most precious commodity.

Period.

Here’s what to do: Take 20-30 minutes to sit down and do a review of how you spend your time. Grab a pen, some paper and get down to business. (Tip: schedule your Time Audits quarterly to keep track you time and Return on Investment or ROI.)

Doing the time audit will immediately and precisely how you spend your time. It may shock you. The Time Audit will explain why you “never” seem to have enought time! The information you glean will allow you to decide which activities are “keepers” and which to let go of.

Be completely honest with yourself and write down on paper or computer what each of regular on-going commitments (be sure to include business and personal). This means all clubs, organizations, meetings, lunches etc. EVERYTHING. Add up the total amount of time you expend each month. Be sure to account for everything…drive time to and from events, extra social get-togethers, buddy lunches, etc.

Great job. Now you’ve got a very clear picture of how and where you are investing your time and energy. Here are a few important questions to ask yourself: *Is this commitment truly serving me in the highest possible way? *What is my ROI? *Is it time to move on? Design your day with high-return activities. (I define high-return activites to include both business & personal items which bring you closer to the money AND what energizes you). Try this process. I promise that doing so will give you an abundance of time, energy and cash flow. Carpe Diem!

Is Creativity a Disorder?

1151099_jungleNearly 9 percent of American children have attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) as defined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, claims one study but not enough are still treated. Doctors and therapists working in the medical framework define the symptoms of hyperactivity-impulsivity in about 10% of the US children “deficiencies” and mental illness. Then they proceed with advice on how to apply “comprehensive treatment” to them.

The recommended treatment nowadays includes medication (always), and then some supportive treatments, including special nutrition and food supplements, psychological counseling and support groups, academic adjustments, social skills counseling, etc., designed to overcome their deficiencies.

Commonly advised are also a number of lifestyle adjustments, among them:

  • avoidance of overstimulation (TV, Video games)
  • regular meals and sleep
  • breathing exercises
  • relaxation exercises (Yoga)
  • wearing a protective helmet in sports

The majority of advice is to place children with ADHD in environments that promote the structure and routine that they lack internally. This is typically advised as a complement to drug treatment, which succeeds in temporarily altering the child’s neural pathways and makes him or her more obedient, while stimulating a greater sense of rules and inhibitory behavior. Other research, however, indicates that a high-energy personality should have “arousing, unstructured creative teaching to perform best”.
