Stop Chasing the Money and Start Chasing the Dream

By Suzanne Evans

“Don’t chase the paper- chase the dream” P. Diddy

This year as I begin to reflect on all that we have done at Help More People, the hundreds we have served, the businesses launched, stretched, and grown I am really grateful and a bit curious. I get asked all the time- how did you do it? Here’s how:

When you love what you do so much your sides could split, money comes easy. I know some of you are already discounting this after just my first sentence. You are pulling up all your considerations and circumstances:

~ I love what I do and I am broke

~ I am in my purpose, but I hate marketing

~ I am passionate, but I can’t get clients

~ I love what I do, but this is too hard

No. When you love what you do… when you wake up every day feeling like if you didn’t do it then it would be criminal, then you figure out, learn, and do whatever it takes. You never stop. You never pause. For me money is love. It allows me to share, give, develop, and grow. Over the last three years I was never chasing the money- I was always chasing the dream. The dream of seeing hundreds of entrepreneurs launch and grow and thrive even in this economy. The dream of seeing helping-based businesses change lives and transform people and situations. The dream of having the abundance to write checks for things I am passionate about and care for deeply. I was chasing the love – the love I had to share with people that I knew would then turn and share with others – that deep, rich ripple effect love.

Chasing the money doesn’t work. At some point you will get bored and angry when things don’t go exactly as you planned. Money is not that hard to make. Really. You could think of 100 ways to make money today – illegally, legally, in a job, asking, begging, Ebay, on and on. Money is not that hard to make. The hard part is making a difference. When you can make money by making a difference, everything is deeper. You don’t mind the hits or jabs or naysayers that come your way, you simply keep chasing the dream because when your dream comes true, so does everyone’s around you.

When you love what you do so much you will do whatever it takes to BE THE CHANGE in this world, when you are focused on helping people, serving, and love, you can’t help but make money. I wake up everyday and ask myself two questions:

* Who can I help?

* Who can I serve?

I never ask how much money I can make and don’t misunderstand I am in this to make money – I know that money will allow me to change my world, your world, and the entire world. I just know it is not the fastest path to cas*h. I know when I love people, when I serve people, and when I help people, money always follows IF I am certain to ask. You can’t just live your life giving everything away. I know that by charging the RIGHT rate for my services I help people and you do too.

So, how did I do what I did this year? I chased the dream. I know that money is just love. Money is a barometer to measure the love you give and the love you receive through the divine work that you do. Money is energy and light and air and love. I am not looking to be a millionaire to count my dollars…I am looking to be a millionaire to count my blessings.

Stop chasing the money and start chasing the dream.

A Different View on Happiness and Peace

1157635_white_eye2Are you tired of the common madness that has dominated the world for thousands of years? In my opinion, we must first find genuine happiness to experience a lasting peace. If we do not have personal happiness, it usually is because we are out of balance. Once the balance is restored, it is possible to actually enjoy our activities regardless of how mundane. We seem to be able to do them effortlessly with grace. Happiness is the immortal nectar. To remain nourished, we need an adequate supply of the food of happiness. Perhaps, more of us need to eat and drink the light of God, the primordial food of the universe. The ego is the ultimate black hole. It sucks in light but emits none.

For humanity to be finally happy and at peace, more individual effort is required. Individual responsibility and a greater understanding of the purpose of life are prerequisites for a lasting healing. To live in dignity and peace, our eyes must be wide open. Most of us desire peace. What many do not fully understand is that true peace is a higher state of consciousness that requires inner knowledge and active application. True peace is a state of consciousness that originates on a higher plane than the physical.

The same is true for happiness. True happiness belongs to a sphere beyond that of the physical body, the heart or the intellect. The peace and happiness the world is seeking is already within. It needs to be rediscovered. On a spiritual level, peace and happiness are one. They cannot exist apart from each other. You cannot be genuinely happy and the world at large cannot be happy unless something stable and unchangeable is established within. All of us must strive for mastery over the lower nature and with effort bring the invisible light of the divine nature into visibility. Once our higher nature is firmly established within, we will have the peace and happiness we desire.

Too much importance is focused on intellectual activities and technical achievements. The focus will not bring lasting inner peace or world peace. If we look deep enough, we realize that seeking is always a form of the quest for the Light of God. No one can genuinely be happy if the field of vision is too narrow. If you desire permanent peace and happiness, it is time to open up and take the whole world into your embrace. Unconditional love will make this possible.

Happiness is a gift of the heart and not the intellect. Happiness and peace are never a question of chance or luck. They depend on you. The state of mind has to be cultivated. It is vast and infinite, not brief and limited like pleasure. All human beings want happiness, but they don’t know how to go about it. True happiness requires a great deal of work, will power and the development of discernment. It also requires that you love your self. Happiness is in the efforts we make.

Many people are concerned about money right now. If you want happiness, it is not only money you need but spiritual light. If you love God’s Light, it means that you already possess spiritual gold. You are rich in qualities and virtues that you can share with others. Abundance, wealth and order must be first internal. The one thing that will provide permanent hope, peace and happiness is a firsthand connection with God’s Light. Ask to be conscious of Light. Ask that everything you do and your physical body be infused with Light.

When we are open to the Light of God, we learn to sustain a balanced state of consciousness regardless of how tired, discouraged, sorrowful we are or the temporary misfortune being experienced. We are wise when we do not allow the outer influences to interrupt our faith. The beginning of liberation and happiness is when we understand that turning to the inner world is the answer for a permanent stability of the outer world. The evils of the world are temporary; good lasts for all eternity.

True happiness and peace lies in a constant attention to what is good and beautiful. It is a state of mind and heart, a sensitivity to all that is divine. As we gradually evolve in our soul’s understanding, the two main weapons we are to use against the lingering darkness are love and light. Together, let us make a conscious effort to live in an awakened state of consciousness. A heightened awareness will make it possible to leave the world of fate and enter a world of grace.

It is very important to understand that lasting results manifest when we work for the good of all. I firmly believe we will experience the peace and happiness we desire if we remember to transform whatever we are doing by adding a spiritual element. Once the inner power is felt, there is no stopping us. Let us unite and break down the wall of separation and darkness. Shifting from a materialistic worldview to a heightened spiritual view can do it. Taking a good hard look at our selves and making the necessary personal changes will increase the possibility of peace on earth and good will toward all.
