Can Your Friends Help You Become Successful?

1181867_holly_berriesCan your friends affect your success? Does it matter if some of your friends are negative and critical? Are your friends on a similar path as you, determine to create a successful business? Or, do they criticize your vision of creating financial freedom?

Connecting with positive, like-minded people is a pivotal factor. It can be challenging to find encouraging, upbeat people but it is possible.

In March I attended my company’s business convention. I was blown away! It was wonderful to be surrounded by so many upbeat, people.

I was excited to hang out with people with a similar mindset – people who want to create wealth and make a difference in the world. The energy was phenomenal! I was charged. Nothing could stop me. That’s the awesome energy generated by positive people.

So, with whom do you associate? Ask yourself some tough questions about your friends. You are definitely influenced by the company you keep. If you want to experience success in your life then objectively assess the quality of your friends.

Get away to a quiet place. List your 10 closest friends. Are they critical, skeptical people who deliberately denigrate the wealthy? Or, do they praise the actions of the affluent?

Are your friends creative problem solvers? How do they respond to personal challenges?

What is their perception of the current economic challenges? Do they complain and worry? Or, do they seek to embrace the great opportunities that are emerging?

Are they even aware that we are on the verge of the greatest transfer of wealth the world has ever experienced?

How do you feel when you are with them? Are you energized? Or, do you drained and depressed?

Once you evaluate your friends, then determine how much contact you want to maintain. Will the relationship enhance your goal of becoming successful, however you define success?

You may choose to spend less time with some. With others, you may choose to end the friendship. It’s time to move on. It may feel difficult and seem hard-hearted, but by terminating a friendship, you are creating the space for a better relationship to develop.

So how do you find like-minded, positive people? Be positive yourself. Thank God.

Appreciate the positive people in your life. Nurture them. Be the person you would like to have as a friend. Check out online forums, like Meetup or the Science of Getting Rich.

If you are involved with a network marketing company, attend your company’s events. Ask God to direct positive people into your path.

Visualize the successful person that you are becoming – dynamic entrepreneur. Take the limits off. Enjoy the process. Make an indelible difference in your world!!

The Key to Financial Freedom for Artists, Actors, Writers & Musicians

1196201_peas1Well-meaning, yet woefully misguided, advice from parents, teachers and other loved ones such as “You’ll never make a living as an artist” has become the foundational belief and mantra of the artist’s Inner Critic. What’s worse is that this also woefully misguided Inner Critic loves to be right and will serve up proof and evidence of this belief and beat you up with it day in and day out to make sure that you do, or not do, what it takes to keep this foundational belief in place. Acting upon the Inner Critic mantra of “You’ll never make a living as an artist.” your thoughts and actions create the outcome of the starving artist. And the Inner Critic is pleased. This supreme inner entity, this ‘knower of all’, is doing its job of keeping you safe and small and right!

Except for one thing…….he’s WRONG!

Think about it. Look around you. Instead of focusing upon your lack of desired financial resources look to all the actors, artists, writers and musicians who are making boat loads of money! Julian Schnabel, Bono, Annie Leibowitz, Steven Spielburg, Rita Ackerman, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Stephen King, Dave Barry, Mick Jagger, Dave Matthews – the list of wildly successful and wealthy artists of every kind can easily go on and on and on.

What’s the difference between the abundantly rich artist and the starving artist? One thing and one thing only: Self-Mastery.

Self-Mastery as the key to financial freedom is not some airy fairy metaphysical woo-woo concept. From the ancient Greeks to modern day philosophers to modern day celebrity icons, all have recognized that the key to whatever you want in life, including wealth, comes from within. How you show up in your life, what the foundational beliefs that motivate you are based upon, deliver the outcomes you experience.

From Socrates:

- “Know thyself.”

- “The unexamined life is not worth living.”

- “Give me beauty in the inward soul; may the outward and the inward man be at one.”

From others throughout the centuries:

- “If money be not they servant, it will be thy master. The covetous man cannot so properly be said to possess wealth, as that may be said to possess him.” – Francis Bacon, British Philosopher

- “All riches have their origin in mind. Wealth is in ideas — not money.” – Robert Collier, American Writer/Publisher

- “I have about concluded that wealth is a state of mind, and that anyone can acquire a wealthy state of mind by thinking rich thoughts.”- Andrew Young, Civil Rights Activist

- “Wealth is the product of man’s capacity to think.” – Ayn Rand, Russian Writer, Philosopher

- “All the breaks you need in life wait within your imagination, Imagination is the workshop of your mind, capable of turning mind energy into accomplishment and wealth.” – Napoleon Hill

And:

“Wealth is the ability to fully experience life.” – Henry David Thoreau

Where you hold back your fullest expression of your potential as an artist of any kind is where you struggle. Where you doubt your self, your dreams, your worthiness is where you create your poverty. Where you resist your purpose in life, the special gifts that are your birthright, is where you suffer your anxiety.

You are as free, financially and otherwise, as the extent of your ability to acknowledge, honor and master your authenticity and take full responsibility for all of your experiences, good and bad, rich or poor. Those who do not govern themselves are condemned to find other masters to govern over them, including their own Inner Critic.

“I stand for freedom of expression, doing what you believe in, and going after your dreams.” – Madonna

Attention Spiritually Conscious Women: Has Financial Freedom Become Your Holy Grail?

1194006_heart_shaped_leafOne of the first questions I ask spiritually conscious women who come to me interested in starting up a business is, “Why do you want to become a small business owner?”

You know what their number one reason is?

You may have guessed it: flexibility. What is their second most important reason for starting up a business? It’s to make money. Specifically, they want financial freedom.

This is a huge mistake. Starting up a business from the energetic place of wanting financial freedom means you don’t realize you already have it. It means that energetically you are holding the belief that financial freedom is something yet to be obtained. Energetically, this sets you up for a Holy Grail quest that could cost you hundreds of thousands of dollars and decades of your life.

Let me break this to you gently, ladies.

Just as with the Holy Grail of Christian mythology, it isn’t whether the cup exists or not. It’s that the very act of looking for it means that belief is not strong enough for it to be seen.

The real quest when starting up a business is not the search for financial freedom. It’s the quest to discover the true Holy Grail for small business owners: the one thing that will attract all the money in the Universe so that it flows to you.

So, what is this Holy Grail? The secret to creating a flow of all the money you want is simple. You must fall passionately in love with a cause.

What kind of cause? The kind of cause that you are extremely passionate about nurturing and that will also greatly benefit and uplift the world. The key here is that it must be advantageous to all. Not just to you.

Five Steps to Putting Your Cause at the Center of Your Business

Step One: Take out a piece of paper and write this question at the top of the page: What cause or causes am I already passionate about?

Then start listing all the causes that bubble up from within you. Don’t think too hard about them. Just allow them to arise and be known.

Step Two: To the right of each of your causes, put a number between one and ten that indicates your degree of passion for each. One would be a cause you’re mildly excited about. Ten would be a cause you’re wildly passionate about.

Step Three: To the left of each cause, put a number between zero and ten that indicates your level of resistance to starting up a business with this cause at its core. Zero would be very little resistance. Ten would be a lot.

Step Four: Narrow down your list to the one main cause that is both high in passion and low in resistance. Ideally, you’re looking for a degree of passion of nine or ten and a resistance level of three or below. Circle the cause or causes that fall within these parameters.

If you have more than one cause circled, then take a moment to center yourself and feel into each cause. Listen inwardly for something that will make one cause stand out from the others.

Step Five: Draw a circle in the middle of your paper and place the number one cause at the center. Now draw spokes radiating outward from the core and brainstorm a list of products and services you are excited about offering that will tantalize all the money in the world toward your cause. Notice that I didn’t say, to you or to your business.

Your products and services are what will entice the flow of money to your cause, not your slick marketing strategy, fancy product packaging, or snazzy website. Yes, all those things are important. However, without your cause at the core of your business generating a magnetic vortex through which money flows, fancy product packaging and a snazzy website will not be enough.

The problem with talking about financial freedom is that many people believe having lots of money is the answer to all problems. If the spiritually conscious woman holds this belief when starting up a business, it actually can work against her. In fact, it can even lead to the downfall of her business.

To prevent that from happening, follow these five steps to take the focus off the quest for financial freedom and put it where it belongs: onto the passionate cause that needs to be at the center of your business. Allow your passion to attract all the money in the Universe and live the financial freedom that is already yours.
