Entrepreneurs: Jump Ahead

Ileana Kane also known as The Million Dollar Muse, helps coaches, healing professionals and entrepreneurs who want to make a difference turn their business around fast and uncover hidden profit opportunities they didn’t know existed in their business. They get more clients, make more money, have more freedom to enjoy it all.

1128212_palm_perspectiveWhile everyone else is playing the blame game on the economy, you can quickly jump ahead of the game and get more clients than you’ll ever need. And the best thing – you guessed it — no marketing budget required!

I bet you’re great at what you do and you just can’t wrap your brain around the marketing thing. You don’t need fixing and it’s not your fault. Because you’re so good at what you do, you’ve just not had the time to study the marketing part. This will be so simple and the fix is fast. You’ll make success of your small business in the snap of a finger. You’ll be able to experience marketing success in no time. I promise!

If you really want to know how to have more business, bigger success and greater satisfaction, let me show you 10 marketing solutions that will do the trick for you:

Marketing Success Solution 1: Get a crystal clear vision of what you want for your business. Have the following in that vision: How many clients do you want? How many hours a week do you want to work? Better yet – how many vacations do you want to take? What does your new home look like and where do you want to live? What is your client’s biggest problem? How did you get the clients you have now (but ONLY your favorite ones)? What is your definition of success? What income do you want to have in the next year?

Marketing Success Solution 2: Now is the time to take all the information in your head and write it down in the form of a plan. Think of it this way… you wouldn’t leave on vacation without knowing where you’re going would you? Not to worry, I’m not having you create one of those 30 page dossiers – because I stand behind the simple, fun, fast way to get the job done and get more new clients. Along with your vision and a simple written dynamic plan you’ll know when you’re on track. Now, you get to start making decisions about how to spend your time and energy so you’ll hit your mark.

You’ll make a success of your small business in no time flat, by including the following: the services you offer, the products you offer, the packages you offer (people love buying packages), what income you want to achieve, and how many clients you want (make sure you go after the high paying clients), and what you’ll be doing to market your business. Your bank account will love you for this!

Marketing Success Solution 3: For business success, you need to be able to communicate the value you give to your prospects and clients. So, ditch the ‘big title’ because everyone already has a coach, massage therapist or whatever it is you do. The truth? Talk about what you can do for them. This is what I call the transaction trigger for what you do. Prospects and clients care about ONE thing and that’s what you can do for them! So let them know what you can do for them by educating them. This answers the BIG question “what do you do”? And your prospect or client is translating this to “what can you do for me”?

Marketing Success Solution 4: Trying to grow your business is a tough one to do on your own. This is the number one reason of business overwhelm. It’s important to have the support you need to get where you want to go. Get into a mastermind group. Having a group of people that are dedicated to growing their business helps keep you in the mindset. These people are supportive of your goals and sincerely want to see you achieve them. You also receive ideas, and feedback that helps keep your energy and momentum up. And if the going gets tough, they’ll provide you with the strength you might need. Let’s face it Frank Sinatra didn’t move his own piano!

Marketing Success Solution 5: Start valuing yourself and what you offer for prospects and clients. When we go into business for ourselves, what we’re really good at comes so naturally to us and we think everybody can do what we do. That’s our gift to humanity and our blind spot seems to work against us. If you need feedback and to really hear your value, ask your friends, or better yet your mastermind members. Set your intentions for the high paying clients?yes, right off the bat! It sends a message that you’re willing to accept your level of expertise and when you’re willing, others are willing to accept it, too! So raise your right hand and say out loud? NO more excuses. Now growing your business becomes an excuse free zone!

Being An Entrepreneur

960054_lilly_dot_com1More people are surfacing into the entrepreneurial spirit today than in past due to the economic situation we have before us right now. This being the case the actual slump is bringing some good to us. Some people that would have never considered being an entrepreneur are figuring out what can they bring to the table. They pool their resources trying to see a problem people are having and could they be the solutions provider.

So, that brings us to the point just exactly what is being an entrepreneur is all about!

Wikipedia: An entrepreneur is a person who has possession of an enterprise, or venture, and assumes significant accountability for the inherent risks and the outcome. It is an ambitious leader who combines land, labor, and capital to create and market new goods or services.

Often on start up the funds will come out of an entrepreneur’s on pockets because banks would surely shy away from new ideas, especially in these hard times. Banks are not interested in start-ups in hard times. Of course another way to come up with funding one could consider friends or relatives. Being an entrepreneur is a good thing!

I read an article one time by Donald Trump he said “You better know as much as you can about a entrepreneur’s quest you seek, so you’ll know what you’re getting yourself into!”

The failure rate is very high but if an entrepreneur can identify a need that the main stream of big corporations are not nor addressing, this is a key factor. Top entrepreneurs seem to catch up on an exact formula as you’ll see them start up one after another. That way if one of his ventures is not panning out, they can cut their loses early on, moving forward with the rest of his projects.

These are a few points you can go by getting a head start and they are:

Create your plan then take massive action.

Start off by setting up clear goals, a vision of what you trying to accomplish.

Turn obstacles into opportunities.

Be willing and prepared to do whatever it takes to reach your outcome.

Build on your purpose, passions and not those of others

Ask professional advice from areas of the venture you have no knowledge of.

You may have to educate yourself turning your weaknesses into strengths.

Gain financial skills and vocabulary.

What is the best way to find out about a problem you being the solutions provider on an issue you identified you could cure? The safest way is to become an apprentice with someone who is an expert in that field.

Entrepreneurs are like explorers and pioneers of the movement’s from the past, that have reshaped and rekindled the way we live and think. Being an entrepreneur is a good thing and not just something that should be swept under the rug when you “get an idea!” All things begin from a single thought in your mind. A few of most famous are Oprah Winfrey, John D. Rockefeller and Bill Gates, who as of this writing is “The richest entrepreneur in the world!”

If you have the entrepreneur heart then I encourage you to go after for in oreder for anything to happen something must move!

How to Become an “Overnight” Success

494170_red_gerberaHave you ever noticed entrepreneurs who appear to become successful “overnight”? It’s a bit of a mystery, isn’t it; one day nobody knows who they are and the next day everyone’s talking about them. This is an interesting phenomenon that happens with entrepreneurs, but I assure you… the success rarely happens “overnight.” Granted, there may be an extremely small percentage of true overnight successes; but for most entrepreneurs it’s taken years to reach that level of achievement. How do I know? Because it’s been my personal journey.

What I want to share with you today, are the three key strategies that helped me get to this level of success in my business. For those of you who know me, or who have been following me for several years, these will sound familiar to you… but for those of you who are new to my teaching, my story and my business, get ready for an inside peek at what it really takes to become an “overnight” success.

1) Faith

Faith has been the single most important factor in my success. Now, you may be asking what I’m talking about when I refer to faith. First, let me say that, to me, faith has nothing to do with religion. My personal experience of faith is having the unwavering belief there is something much larger than myself that is helping me expand, grow, evolve and transform through every step of my journey… through the challenging times and the joyous times. Faith is your convincing belief of the greatness that lies within you. It’s knowing that (as Marianne Williamson says) you were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

2) Commitment

The second factor in my success is being willing to commit 110% to the realization of my highest and fullest potential. Commitment is what kept me going when I experienced multiple failures with previous businesses. Now, keep it mind that commitment is not about persisting and forcing the thing you want to be successful in, rather commitment is about being willing to let go of what isn’t working because of your higher commitment to your Self. For me, this showed up as being committed to experiencing success and freedom, no matter the size or number of obstacles placed in my way. The deep desire I have to make a difference by helping and serving others was the commitment that made me continue exploring new avenues, new opportunities and new openings that helped me get to where I am today.

3) Surrender

Ahhhh… sweet surrender. You may be wondering how surrender can help you become a six or seven-figure entrepreneur. Good question! It took me a long time to “get” this one. Because, for many years I used my will, tenacity, determination and action-oriented mindset to “make” things happen. And, yes, things happened (to a degree). However, when I fully understood what it meant to surrender to where I was being guided…versus where I thought I should be going… everything changed for the better. None of my success could have happened if I didn’t surrender to what was being shown to me… and say YES to it.

So, I invite you to reflect on these three strategies of faith, commitment and surrender. And, ask yourself how you can further bring these into your business, and your life.

How to Find Your “Tribe”

1188044_flowering_plants1Have you noticed that successful entrepreneurs all have one thing in common? They all have a “tribe.” It’s true. Think of any entrepreneur who has achieved a certain level of success and you’ll discover they are surrounded by people who support, believe and help them to realize their goals and dreams.

Having just returned from one of my mastermind gatherings in Martha’s Vineyard, it became even more clear exactly how important these types of gatherings are. There is something very powerful that happens when a dozen visionary entrepreneurs gather for a few days to turn dreams into reality. By the end of our two days together we were referring to ourselves as a “tribe” because of the depth of connection we felt, and the level of commitment we have in helping each other succeed.

As we were leaving the restaurant from our celebration dinner, another group of diners came up to us and asked how we all came together. They could tell there was something different about our “tribe” and they couldn’t figure out what it was. The best guess they had was that we were having a “mini” high school reunion… because it was evident to them we’d known each other for decades. Ha! At best, some of us have known each other for 2 ½ years, while some other “tribe” members had just met this weekend. Yet, there was a feeling we have all known each other much longer than that.

So, when we told these diners we were a mastermind group of like-minded colleagues, they wanted to know how we all came together. And, this is what I want to share with you here, so you can find your own “tribe” too.

Step 1: Have a Clear Vision For Your Business. In order to attract like-minded mastermind colleagues (your “tribe”) you’ve first got to get clear on your own vision for business and your life. You will attract the perfect group of people to support you based on your own vision. Like attracts like, so get clear on what you want and it will be much easier to manifest the perfect group of people who are also clear on what they want. This is how you can help each other most.

Step 2: Have a Clear Vision for Your “Tribe.” Now it’s time to get clear on the types of people you want to attract for your mastermind group… your “tribe.” Ask yourself these questions… What types of people do I want to support me in the realization of my dreams? What qualities do I want them to possess? What values and guiding principles do I want them to have? Granted, right now, you don’t know exactly WHO those people are, but you can get very clear about the TYPES of people they are. It’s kind of like identifying your ideal client… you can get crystal clear on the essence of who they are without knowing their face or name.

Step 3: Go Where Your “Tribe” Goes. Here you’ve got to take the next step to go where your “tribe” goes. Identify the LIVE face-to-face events where your tribe gathers. For instance, every single person in my current mastermind group, I met by going to an event where I knew “my people” would be. And, they were. Here’s another example, I was just talking with an entrepreneur who signed up to attend my Freedom Formula Experience and she said one of her top 3 reasons for attending was to be in a room filled with like-minded people… her “tribe” per se. So, take the steps you need to identify where YOUR “tribe” is and do whatever it takes to gather with them.

Step 4: Say “Yes” When The Right Opp*rtunity Shows Up. Too many people attract the right opp*ortunities into their lives, but then don’t say “YES” when they show up. Your job, in order to find your “tribe,” is to say YES when the right situation presents itself. I know it sounds crazy to say “no” when the perfect situation surfaces, but sadly, I see people do this all the time. They let the excuse of time, money, travel, etc. keep them from having everything they want. So, the most important step is this one… to say YES to your “tribe” when they show up.

Now, more than ever, it is absolutely essential to have your “tribe” in place. There’s going to be so much exciting change and evolution over the coming years, nobody is going to make it through alone. Your “tribe” of like-minded colleagues is sure to be one of the most valuable assets you can have in your business (and your life) today.

“3 Steps to Outlining Your Ultimate Lifestyle Vision (and Business)”

1164948_potsOver the course of the last 3-4 years in my business, I’ve invested heavily in coaches, mentors, workshops, mastermind groups and kicking my own learning up a BIG notch. I did this not only to advance my own business but to help grow my client’s businesses too.

I wanted to create a better life for myself. I wanted more freedom to be able to be with family, travel and to speak and inspire other entrepreneurs.

When I first set out on this quest of business development, I didn’t realize I’d also be making a huge transformation in my self and personal development as well!

What I learned is that no amount of marketing, planning or goal setting would make me as successful as I wanted to be without the right mindset around TWO THINGS: Love & Money.

What I also learned is that in order to truly attain the lifestyle, the business and the life that you ultimately want you have to do 3 main things (and do them regularly mind you):

1. First, you have to develop your overall vision. What do you want your life to look like?

o Do you want quarterly vacations?

o Do you want a 7 figure income?

o Do you want to only work Tues-Thurs, 5 hours a day?

o Do you see yourself volunteering, giving back or doing something towards some other worthy cause?

o Whatever this looks like for you, you need to claim it! You need to really give this some deep thought, not just a fleeting idea. You also want to be on the same page in your visioning as your significant other (that helps).

o Helpful Tips to Keep Your Vision Top of Mind at All Times:

Create a vision board and hang it in your office – cut out magazine pictures or words, use photos of things you want, etc. to make a colorful collage of what your ULTIMATE VISION looks like.

Create a vision video, something short with motivating pictures, words and songs that capture what your ULTIMATE VISION looks like for you and then you can watch it every morning like my friend Kelly.

Develop vision statements, sort of like a mission statement, and then write them on sticky notes or signs around your office, car and home.

2. Second, you want to outline specific and timely goals that you want to attain in a specific time period. You can post these on your vision board too, I do. I make up about 8 goals for the year – big, lofty ones like publish my book, hold my first 4 day event, be a speaker at a big annual conference, etc.

I don’t worry about posting all the little details that go with each goal or writing down HOW I plan to accomplish them because that would be too daunting of a task.

o You just want to write enough to throw it out into the Universe what you plan to accomplish.

o Plus, when you write simple, quick goals like this you can actually take them and post them in your office, by your bedside, in your wallet, car or other significant place where they will ALWAYS be on the top of your mind.

o Then of course you have to BELIEVE and have complete FAITH that you WILL attain them. (that’s the hard part)

3. Thirdly, you need to take a look at your environment and your relationships.

o Are they serving you?

o Are you being supported?

o Are you being encouraged (at all times no matter what crazy ideas you come up with)?

o Are you completely and utterly happy? Because if you’re not, what’s the point?

o Take a deep look at your environment, your relationships with loved ones, co-workers and anyone around you or anyTHING around you that could be bringing you down. You have to keep your mind OUT of the negative AT ALL TIMES – this is CRUCIAL to your success!!!

Hopefully I’ve given you something to think about as far as how you can redesign your life or business (There’s always room for improvement!).

Are you the next Donald Trump or Richard Branson?

1195868_shoe_musselHave you got what it takes to be a world class entrepreneur? Or would you be better off as a senior executive in the corporate world?

In a recent White Paper on Competitiveness, the UK Government said “Entreprenuership and innovation are central to the creative processes in the economy, to promoting growth, increasing productivity and creating jobs. Entrepreneurs sense opportunities and take risks in the face of uncertainty to open new markets, design new products and develop innovative processes. In the knowledge-driven economy this process is critical in large and small businesses alike.”

If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, a useful starting point would be to assess your own competencies. Ask yourself: how do I compare to the Donald Trumps or Richard Bransons of the world?

A study of 17 successful entrepreneurs identified 9 competencies that can predict, with about 80% accuracy, which individuals have the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs of the future.

This study showed the entrepreneurs to be people who are driven and focused, with a huge capacity for work. They also revealed themselves to be individuals with high levels of integrity and a democratic and generous approach to sharing success. They had an eye for developing a business that would stand the test of time and that would contribute to their local community.

But what made these individuals truly outstanding is the passion they have for what they are doing. That passion feeds their success and drives them forward.

Dr David McClelland, Emeritus Professor of Psychology at Harvard University, one of the world’s leading authorities on leadership and motivation, proved that entreprenueiral behaviours can be developed and that once these behaviours are developed, business performance improves.

If it is possible to develop these entrepreneurial behaviours, how do you do it?

Firstly, make sure your chosen field is something that really grabs you, something you believe in completely and can talk about confidently. Remember you will have to convince others it’s a good idea and there will be some risk-taking involved! Know your stuff, know your market, know your limitations, and then go beyond them.

Take the initiative – if you don’t do it no one else will! Or if it is a really good idea, if you don’t take the initiative someone else might! Take the lead on issues and set a good example for any employees you might have and also to the investors.

Set goals and performance measures for your people so that you can assess progress. It’s a give and take world so reward your employees when they do well (but only when they do well).

Be honest with yourself about how well things are going. Communicate closely with your employees and tell them if they’re not up to scratch. They can either shape up or ship out. The Donald Trump “You’re fired” line in The Apprentice TV show comes to mind.

Take care of yourself psychologically. You are the visionary, the leader. When things go right, make the most of it, feel good about it and use that to move on to the next challenge. Beyond the competencies, there are practical skills that the entrepreneur needs to develop. There are hundreds of things to consider when setting up a business – planning, getting funding, selling and everyday administration such as health and safety and payroll.

Above all, individuals must respect the huge amount of personal sacrifices successful entrepreneurs have made along the way and also recognise that success owes a lot to hard graft, determination and long hours as well as drive, commitment and a brilliant business concept.

Can I Serve Others and Create a Successful Business?

1159171_dreamcatcherMany people believe that you can only create a successful business by destroying your competitors. They view business is a “dog eat dog” “anything for a buck” world where only the toughest and meanest person survives.
This perspective still prevails in the business world. As a result most entrepreneurs hesitate to reveal any vulnerability for they believe that their competitors will take advantage of it and destroy their business.

However, this perspective of business as a competition reveals a scarcity consciousness. If you think that there is not enough “good stuff” in the world, you constantly compete with others to ensure that you get your share. This belief can ultimately lead to the immoral and amoral behaviour by some entrepreneurs that we read about in the media.

However, an abundance mindset has a totally different result. Someone with an abundance mindset believes that the universe is unlimited, that there are unlimited resources. Consequently, she knows that there is enough for everyone. She willingly helps others achieve their goals. She holds to Zig Ziglar’s belief that “You can only get what you want, if you help enough other people get what they want.”

Wallace Wattles stated in the Science of Getting Rich that “And because it is the deepest instinct of their natures, all men and women are attracted to those who can give them more of the means of life.”

As you serve your community, people will be drawn to do business with you if they can benefit from your product or services. As you help others get what they want, you show that you are trustworthy. For you know that people do business with people they know, like and trust.

As you assist others to achieve their goals and vision, your business becomes more successful. Business becomes a win-win for everyone! You are creating a profitable business as you serve others!

Conscious Entrepreneur: How to Trust Your Vibes in Business

1159677_puff-ballBefore you read another word… pause and take a deep breath. This is how you begin to trust your vibes in business. Simple? Yes. Effective? Yes. But, how can a simple breath help you trust your vibes? That’s what I’ll be sharing with you here in this article, because in order to succeed as a conscious entrepreneur you’ve got to become an expert at trusting (and listening) to your vibes.

One thing I continue to hear from entrepreneurs is they are so busy working on projects, taking care of clients, marketing their business, etc. that they barely have time to eat, sleep and BREATHE… forget about creating time to meditate, or journal. I have news for you. It’s impossible to trust your vibes in business, when you are completely disconnected from yourself because you “go, go, go” all the time. I’ll assume that you’d like to learn how to not only trust, but hear your vibes (your inner wisdom) more clearly.

So, I’m going to share how I do this in my own life, in hopes it will help you, too.

Step 1: Breathe

Give yourself the gift of deep, conscious breath. If you are holding your breath, or completely unaware of it throughout your day, it’s a sure sign you are disconnected from Source, and your “vibes” won’t have any space to enter.

Step 2: Realize You are a Spiritual Being

Next, in order to connect, listen to and act on your vibes you’ve got to embrace the truth that you are a Spiritual being, above and beyond anything else. In this understanding, you realize that you are never the one “in control”… rather you are an instrument being used to fulfill Divine Destiny on earth. In this experience of surrender, you become more conscious of what is truly unfolding in front of you.

Step 3: Become Still

In a world of ever increasing speed and activity, it’s nearly impossible to hear (or trust) your vibes when you are operating at the “speed of life.”You must become still. You must allow your mind to become quiet so your heart can be heard. When I talk about stillness, I don’t mean sitting down to watch TV, eat dinner, sip tea or anything else. What I’m talking about here is sitting down with your eyes closed for at least 10 minutes a day… without moving a finger. When you bring your physical body into stillness, it allows your mind and heart to open to what is present beyond your physical experience of life. And, this is where you can begin to sense your “vibes.”

Step 4: Do Only That Which Brings You Joy

A simple concept, but challenging to do when the phone is ringing, email is piling up and projects are behind deadline. (I understand… I experience these feelings myself sometimes.) But, the concept of living in JOY and the reality that this is actually your NATURAL state of BEING is at the essence of journeying through life trusting your vibes. You are not meant to struggle, or work hard doing something that doesn’t thrill you. Your Divine nature is to experience joy, so begin to look for those things that bring you joy. And, pursue those avenues. Following your joy is a great way to trust your vibes.

Joy will never steer you down the wrong road. I could write an entire book on this topic (perhaps I will some day), but for now I wanted to give you these four easy steps to begin with. Trusting your vibes is a key element to succeeding in the new model for conscious business success. So, set aside some time for yourself today to breathe, be still, and… follow your joy.

Procrastination Feels So Right

1137017_sunflower___2The other day, I was watching Ellen Degeneres do a stand-up comedy performance on TV. Her theme was Procrastination and how it feels so right. Well, that got me to thinking. And I agree with Ellen – procrastination can feel right but only if you know how to use it the right way.

As entrepreneurs, we have a lot on our plate. Not only business activities, but when we venture home, personal activities. That’s why learning to procrastinate the right way is a great skill to learn. So, to help you learn to procrastinate and feel great about it, I’ve created Weston’s TOP 3 list of what entrepreneurs can procrastinate on:

1. Checking E-mail

Checking e-mail can be a job all its own. Too many of us sit in front of the computer and continuously press that Send/Receive button to see if we have e-mail. Trust me, you do, and it ain’t stopping.

E-mail cannot be left alone entirely, of course, but it can be procrastinated on. So, to procrastinate the right way, set a time to check e-mail. Don’t do it all the time! Set a specific time and do it then and only then.

You’ll not only feel better, but you’ll be more productive too!

2. Answering the Phone

I know you love your cell phone, Blackberry, or whatever other techno friend you keep by your side all day, every day. However, they can be left alone. I know it feels awkward. But, unlike human beings, these techno tools don’t need physical contact. They are happy wherever they are.

So, leave them alone. Let them ring. They’ll take a message for you.

When you’re ready (after you?ve procrastinated) call the person back. No big deal! They understand you’re busy. Heck, they weren’t even expecting to get you on the phone anyway – don’t disappoint them.

3. Meeting with Everyone

As an entrepreneur, we fall into the trap of meeting with everyone we come in contact with. We want to help them grow their business, as well as see if they can help us. It’s understandable; and at times, smart.

However, meeting with EVERYONE is a bad move. For one, not everyone can help you and vice versa. Another reason, it’s hard to build relationship with everyone. That’s why when you meet with other entrepreneurs, you should be choosy. Not rude, choosy.

And most importantly, you don’t have time to meet EVERYONE. Meet with the entrepreneurs that compliment your business the most. Procrastinate on meeting everyone else. Again, don’t be rude, be choosy.

It may take you some time to get used to procrastinating the right way, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll learn to procrastinate even more mundane-not-bringing-you-any-profit activities. Enjoy the feeling of procrastination – it feels so good!!!
